John van Bockxmeer is one of Australia’s young health leaders dedicated to reducing health inequality. John is a remote Emergency Department doctor from Port Hedland leading significant change within his role in the public health system representing excellence in the fields of medicine and community development.
In 2015 he was named in the ‘Top 10 Outstanding Young Persons in the World’. Working as an intern John was shocked at the health disadvantage of Australia’s remote population. He established an innovative solution to the problems of lifestyle related illness through his charity ‘Fair Game’. The volunteer group helps foster positive change in remote communities through the donation of recycled sports equipment, sport and health education. The group impacts the local community and beyond donating over 30,000 items of pre-loved equipment.
