Dodgeball Rules

Participants

10 per side, with a maximum of 5 male players on court per team at one time.

Unlimited bench.

Game Length

10 minutes total.

Any number of sets within 10 minutes.

Rules

The game will start with both teams lined up on opposite ends of the court. Balls will be evenly spaced in the midline, and on a whistle, the match will start, and the players may sprint to retrieve the balls.

No player may cross the midline to retrieve a ball or throw a ball. If they do so, any throw is ineligible, and any ball retrieved must be returned

The ball is considered “live” if it has not touched the wall, floor, other object or loose ball.

If a live ball hits a player below the level of the neck (directly from the thrower’s hand into the player), the hit player is “out”.

If a live ball is caught by an opposition player, the thrower is out and one player can be retrieved from the catcher’s “out” teammates (in order of who was rst out, not selective).

If a live ball rebounds off one player into another, and is not caught, both players are “out”.

If a live ball rebounds off one player and is caught by a second teammate, then it is considered a “catch” (thrower is ”out” and a player may be retrieved from catcher’s “out” players).

If a player is holding a ball, they may choose to “block” a live ball thrown by an opposition player.

If only ball/ball contact is made, the blocking player is not “out”.

If a ball is “blocked”, it is still considered live until it hits the oor or a wall.

The game will continue until one team runs out of players. This will signify the end of the “set”.

The game will then restart, until the 10-minute game time expires.

Scoring

If a team eliminates all opposition, they win the “set”.

Teams with the most “sets” at the end of the time limit will win that matchup.

If a set is still being played when the game clock expires, the team with the most active players will win the “set”.

The winning team from each matchup will be awarded 4 points.

A losing team will be awarded 1 point.

A draw will award both teams 2 points.

Basketball Rules

Rules

Field will be reduced (approx 70m by 50m, at the discretion of space available upon setup).

Starting possession will be decided by paper-scissors-rock.

Players from both teams are permitted to affect the touch.

A touch is contact with any part of the body, ball, clothing or hair.

Minimum force is to be used at all times.

A team is entitled to 6 touches before a turnover occurs.

A roll-ball will occur following a change of possession, unless the change of possession qualifies for a “tap” to be taken.

The opposing team must retire a distance of 5m from the roll-ball.

The “Half” is the person who picks up the ball after a teammate has performed a roll-ball.

A change of possession shall occur when: the ball goes to ground, the Half is touched while in possession, the Half places the ball in the touchdown zone, the 6th touch occurs, the player in possession steps on or over the boundary of the field of play, a roll ball is performed incorrectly or a tap is performed incorrectly.

When a player/team is penalized, the non-oending team shall restart play with a “tap”.

A “tap” is taken at the mark and the defending team must retire 10m from the mark until the ball has been tapped.

Play restarts with a tap when the following infringements occur: forward pass, touch and pass (”late pass”), roll ball performed o the mark (”overstepping”), performing a roll ball prior to a touch being made (”voluntary roll ball”), defenders oside at the roll ball (5m), defenders oside at the tap (10m), deliberately delaying play, more than 6 players on field, falsely claiming a touch (”phantom touch”), using more than minimum force (”heavy touch) or misconduct.

Play will restart at the centre line following a try, with the non-scoring team gaining possession.

Scoring

Team will be awarded 1 point for each try.

Team with the most points scored at the end of the matchup will win.

The winning team from each matchup will be awarded 4 points.

A losing team will be awarded 1 point.

A draw will award both teams 2 points.
